Fasting (NPO) from midnight on, the night before the test.  You may have water.

No Caffeine, No decaf, and NO chocolate:  24 hours prior to test. (The caffeine will cause cloudiness in our pictures).

Do Not Take Beta blockers 2 days prior to the test.  Such as..... Atacand, Atenolol (Tenormin), Cartrol, Clonidine, Coreg, Corgard, Kerione, Levatol, Metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL, Visken.

Do Not take medications the morning of the test, Bring them with you.

Wear comfortable clothing: No metal buttons and no under wire bra.  Depending on the patient's weight, this test will take approximately 4 hours or my need to be split in 2 days.

This test is used with a radioactive tracer that is ordered specifically for you.  Because it's radioactivity dissipates after so many hours and cannot be reused.  Any cancellations MUST be given 24 hours in advance!!  The technician will call you 2 days in advance to confirm your appointment.  If she does not hear from you, the dose will be cancelled and you will need to reschedule.
